Custom furniture company Interior Define will open a new store next week in Harbor East, where customers can seek advice from interior designers and develop furniture pieces.
The 5,429-square-foot space will open to the public June 15 at 809 Aliceanna St. The studio will also include a workspace that interior designers can book for private meetings, appointments, and presentations.
Interior Define describes their company as a “digitally native and vertically integrated brand.” The store’s furniture is tailor-made to suit the needs of its customers, offering numerous customization options.
In an interview with Forbes, Interior Define’s founder Rob Royer said “The plan from our perspective was to create a user experience online first that would enable shoppers to easily customize a piece.”
Since the company’s launch in 2014, Interior Define has opened stores in major American cities, including Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.
Interior Define plans to expand their brick-and-mortar retail locations from nine stores in 2021 to more than 30 stores across the country by the end of 2022, including the new Harbor East store.
The store’s design experts will provide complimentary, one-on-one consultations to customers to provide insight and help develop the customer’s dream piece of furniture. With a Design Expert, customers can glean expertise, create moodboards, and even see 360 degree digital renderings of their furniture.
The Harbor East store will allow customers to “see, touch, and share the endless customization options in person at the Design Center,” the company said in a press release.
Interior Define offers six different categories of customizable furniture: living, dining, office, rugs, lighting, and decor. Customers can customize their furniture’s fabric, length, depth, cushioning, upholstery and other characteristics to fit their personal style, according to the company’s website.
For those unable to make it to the Harbor East Interior Define location, the store’s design experts also offer online consultations.
At the store’s opening, Harbor East’s Interior Define studio will have 80% of the company’s current products on display.
While Interior Define is focused on crafting one-of-a-kind pieces, the new Harbor East studio is furnished with pre-made Interior Define pieces, intended to channel “a modern aesthetic that feels like walking into a friend’s home” according to the press release.
