Man dies in south Laredo house fire

LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) – Fire officials are investigating the cause of a house fire that claimed the life of one man.

The fire was reported at around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The Laredo Fire Department was called out to the 4600 block of Acerra Lane.

When fire crews arrived, they found a house fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire; however, one person lost their life in the fire.

The victim was identified as 66-year-old Daniel Pachuca.

His widow, Clara Muzquiz says she is trying to piece together what happened.

“He died in there, inside the trailer. I don’t know why. We knocked the door, but he never got out. They found him in the hallway. That’s all I can say. He was worried, he wanted us to get out. The smoke killed him. I don’t know. I’ll wait to see what the autopsy says”, said Muzquiz.

Clara says she’s lived there with her family for 25 years.

The Red Cross is helping them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
